NEWSLETTER - "Adapt News"/ 2007
Welcome to
Northern Ireland
’s only voluntary Self-Help Group for ADD sufferers , parents, and friends. We mainly support children in Education and beyond and their parents.
We can help you with our Home Start package, similar to other initiatives only it is designed specifically with the ADHD sufferer’s needs in mind. The way it works is that some of our volunteers, as friendship with each other grows can visit each other’s homes a few hours each week or fortnight and help with shopping, school runs or even babysitting based around friendships. ADHD or ADD families can be of benefit to each other and ADD UP as a group can represent you, whatever your difficulty associated with your child’s condition. If you feel you’d like this service,
JUST
GIVE US A CALL, THAT’S
ALL
! We are a voluntary group dedicated to each other.
See below for news and views …A lot has happened since our first few meetings.
Welcome to our latest edition! Many of you have eagerly awaited this since the launch of our website earlier this year. We have now published results of our latest Child Travel Safety Surveys both this year ,2007 and archive material dating from 2004. These can be obtained by contacting either Marion or John via this site or by phone.
Cyber-bullying
Many of you have expressed deep concern on this issue. So much so, that we have now published our own Self-Help leaflets and publications on the subject.. These are free to schools and groups but we ask for a small donation or for you to join us as a member (with associating fee) in order to receive more than 10 copies, or if you are ordering on a regular basis.
The publications include the following titles:
*"After School Safety and Mobile Phones"
*"Effective Action for Young People against Bullying"
*"Tackling and eradicating Cyber-Bullying"
*"Children's Rights and Parents' Responsibilities-the law in NI"
We hope you find these helpful. Shortly we will make them available as downloads.

A Word From the Chair ……. A charity chairperson also came forward who wants to meet with us. The charity, AFASIC (Details at the end of the Newsletter). So representatives from our charity will need to meet them. Any interested party should give their names. The next meeting is scheduled for Sat 8th May 04 Please ring us on 07792932371 to get the venue. We need to meet all you newcomers out there! Especially those who rang in response to the ads in the Guardian and Ballymena Times.
